The Dragons of T&T Karate are heading up to Albany, NY to compete in the North East Open on August 11th!
They have been training hard and long to compete against other New York State demonstration teams.
Originally, their demo routine was only 4.5 minutes long. Over the past two months, they have cleaned up the existing routine, added several new transitions, and added three entirely new parts. It has been a LOT of work, and if they continue to put in their best effort, that work will pay off.
Don't wish us luck-- luck has little to do with the hours and hours of practice we have put in. Because we don't just practice until we get it right... we practice until we can't get it wrong. If you want to wish us anything, wish us an amazing experience!
On Tuesday 7/24, Bleu's K9 Rescue came to Summer Camp to teach a dog safety and bite prevention seminar! The kids learned how to safely approach dogs, how to meet and pet dogs, and canine body language. We also learned about what great work Bleu's K9 Rescue does for Dutchess County! If you're looking for a pup, adopt from Bleu's!
The Dragons of T&T Karate will be competing in Albany, NY!
The North East Open Tournament hosts a demo team competition, and I will be bringing our team. We are excited and determined!
Other students are welcome to compete as well. See me or Master T for details!
Below is a list of our top earners for the board breaking section of the Relay For Life. They worked hard to get the most donations possible!
There were many more students who assisted, but these five were exceptional in their earnings. Thank you to the others: Stephanie, Dayvien, Logan, Shamus, Mackenzie, John Joseph, Aiden, Bill, Kaydence, Kiera, Mikayla, and Aaron.
Overall, our entire team earned $3,725 for the Relay!
The Northern Dutchess Relay For Life took place on a sunny, slightly windy day in June. However, T&T Karate had been fundraising since late April. We chose to raise funds for the Relay because the American Cancer Society does a lot of good, and every single person is affected by cancer.
Personally, I wanted to support the Relay because I know the enormous burden of medical expenses. I have many chronic illnesses that cost me a lot of money... but my burden is small compared to families and individuals who are touched by cancer. The American Cancer Society helps pay for everything from treatment, to rides, to household expenses.
Thus, we chose to support the Relay. And it was a ton of fun!
We had three fundraisers for our students to participate in:
which brought us to 2nd place in all of the teams.
Master T. and I are so incredibly proud of all the students involved! Thank you students, families, and strangers for your support!
Hit Like A Girl is a self-defense class for women, developed by women. Masters Veronica and Sarina Teuschler have a unique perspective to share on self-defense because (of course) they are women!
Male martial artists have the physical skills, and may even have real world experience with self-defense, but they lack a fundamental understanding of what it means to be a woman in American society. Learn from two experienced female martial artists in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
Hit Like A Girl is a weekly course that separates "self-defense" into two categories: Prevention, and Response.
The class will be Wednesdays at 7:45pm, with two payment options: Monthly rates, and single class bundles.
Call or email to RSVP!
T & T Karate competed at Barley's Karate Tournament on March 23 & 24. It was a great experience, and each of our students were amazing.
Fantastic job and congratulations to the competitors:

We will be open tonight with a regular class schedule.
Come train! Get ready for belt testing and the Barley's Karate Tournament.
On International Women's Day, March 8th, we hosted a Women's Self-Defense Seminar. It was a huge success and the ladies learned a lot about both assertive speech and physical self-defense.
In Spring 2018, T & T Karate will implement a new program-- Hit Like A Girl.
Tonight, Friday March 2nd, T & T Karate will be closed due to inclement weather. We re-open for normal classes Saturday morning.
